Q. Who does Good Samaritan help?

A. Good Samaritan was established to provide emergency services to residents of Pulaski County and the surrounding area. Some emergency services include help for disaster vicitims and commodities for those who meet income guidelines.

Q. Who can purchase from the thrift store?

A. Anyone may make purchases from the thrift store. All money raised for the thrift store sales goes back into the food pantry and the domestic violence shelter (Genesis: A Place of New Beginnings), as well as our many other outreach programs.

Q. What items can be purchased from the thrift store?

A. The thrift store always has a little bit of everything: From clothing, household items, electronics, home repair items, shoes, furniture, and toys to the occasional automobile. You just have to keep checking back to see what's new!

Q. Who can receive food from the food pantry?

A. Anyone in need of food in Pulaski County or surrounding areas may apply.

Q. What are the requirements to receive a food basket?

A. A family must provide: proof of residence, social security cards for all household members, and a picture ID of the person who is applying.

Q. Who does Good Samaritan help with furniture?

A. Good Samaritan helps victims of fire and other natural disasters with our Restart Program. This program allows these victims furniture and other household items that will help the "restart" after a natural disaster.

Q. Why does Good Samaritan charge for items that are donated?

A. Good Samaritan is a 501c3 not for profit organization. All the money received from the sale of donated items goes back into their various programs which include: Genesis, the Food Pantry, the Angel Program, and the Pearl Program. In additon to this, Good Samaritan redonates some of the items back into the community through their Ministry Outreach Program.

Q. How do I donate?

A. Bring your items to the Good Samaritan Waynesville or call Al at 573-855-0257 to schedule a pick up. If you would like to donate items to Genesis, just mark the items for Geneis and Good Samaritan will deliver them to the shelter.

Q. Can I receive a tex reciept for my donation?

A. Yes! Please ask the cashier for a receipt for any items that are donated. In addition, if you make a monetary donation to Genesis you can recieve a 50% Missouri State tax credit!

Q. What type of donations does Good Samaritan accept?

A. Good Samaritan will take any donations that are in good condition! Also, if you would like to donate clothing that is torn or stained they will accept that too! Just mark "recycle" on the bag and they will bale it up and recyle it! Please see our link for more information on recycling.

Q. What are USDA commodities?

A. Commodities are government issued food to be given to individuals who qualify according to thier income guidelines. You must bring the same documentation needed to receive emergency food and fill out a short application to receive commodities.

Q. How often does the pantry receive new shipments of food.

A. Commodities are shipped to Good Samaritan on a monthly basis. We do not know what we will receive in advance. The food pantry accepts food donations daily. Distribution is on a first come-first served basis.
